I have come to Muddy Waters dozens of times with friends and family and have always experienced good food and great service. It's a good casual dining experience for the entire family with a quaint Florida coastal theme. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive and there are plenty of TV sets to catch your favorite game or watch the realistic fish screen savers.

Went for happy hour. Desiree was our bartender and she is the worst! She pours a bad drink and has an attitude to match. She tried to put an acquaintance's tab on mine...not my fault she can't keep track of her customers. When I refused-her attitude became scathing and unprofessional. I found out later that she put the tab on a friend's credit card (who had already left) without permission or his signature-I do believe that is illegal... She definitely needs a class in customer service skills but since she is dating the bar manager I doubt that will happen. I suggest you go to any other dining establishment in the area for happy hour-where they appreciate your business, act professional and serve you with a smile.

My Muddy Water's lunch meal began with clam chowder. My wife, Diane's was as thick as wet cement- apparently the bottom of the pot. Mine took another half hour to be served but it was the correct consistency because they made a fresh batch according to the waiter. It was tasty, unfortunately it hit my stomach like a brick. My main course was a lunch special Rib-eye steak sandwich. The edible portions were very tender and good, but it was about 60% fat. It came smothered in onions and mushrooms-not good- so I removed them. It also came with rice-not bad- but it took another half hour to arrive. I had a coke which was good. It was sort of an exhausting meal- asking the waiter over and over when each course was going to get there. Muddy Waters was too much effort for very little rewards. I would have sent my sandwich back but I didn't feel like waiting another God knows how long. The place was acceptably clean, the staff was reasonably friendly, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the over-all bad experience.

Nice place great atmosphere and deco inside as well as outside awesome. Its like a Key West kind of a vibe. Went during happy hour drinks were reasonably priced great price. Got a dozen of the Rockefeller oysters so good and got also the fish of the day. Great taste on the seasoning perfectly cooked. I've been here a couple times. sit at the bar everyone is always polite service wise as well as anyone siting at the bar. I don't think I ever been there and not struck a conversation with somebody.

It's hard to give Muddy Waters more than 3 stars. It try's hard to give customers a warm nice feeling about being there so, I at least pushed it to 3 stars. Here is what I mean. It is a strip mall ocean restaurant catered to tourist and the older sect. Much older. The neighborhood is full of retirement communities so that explains the approach. The food is very bland. Common in such restaurants. When we were in the other day we only got a couple appetizers. Basic apps, coconut shrimp. It was all over cooked. But let me say some positives the keys vibe they present a lot of people like. Fake parrots etc are a popular look that gives a island nuance. The one positive I would agree with other people on one real perk. They have outside swing seating. That is to say they have tables on gliders which is pretty fun. It's not a place for everyone but you might like it

This is a so-so place for food. If you are a vegetarian there are not really many options seeing as everything has a fish taste to it. They do have good salads. Later in the night this place can get really trashy and not somewhere you would want to bring a date or anything. However, during the day the outdoor seating area is great for out of towners. They really tried to go for that whole pirate/beach theme and they do a decent job of pulling it off. If you're from Florida it is a little bit gimmicky, considering the outdoor seating is in front of the strip mall. The interior is a little run down but great for large groups. The restuarant is also over priced in my opion. The food is a mix of american food, carribean, and seafood. Most of the main dishes at 14-20 dollars, but you do get a lot of food.

My husband and I have been coming here for a while. The staff is great. Always laughing and makes the customers feel welcomed. We have never had a bad meal and the food is always consistent. Love the bloody Mary's. If you want fresh fish this is the place. The owner always makes sure he says hi and everything is ok. This is the best hidden secret that the locals know about. Love Lilly and Chris at the bar

My first time to visit Florida and I LOVE this place! A crazy cool atmosphere, extensive affordable menu and the drinks are soooo good! Chris was our bartender and served up delicious Rita's and Mai tais! I had the conch fritters and the mango wings. Amazing! I will definitely be back and had a blast here!

Nothing better after a day on the water fishing. It's a sports bar with a Florida keys vibe. Fresh seafood. Great drinks. Awesome place. Great decor.

I went to Muddy Waters for dinner with my husband, my cousin, and a friend. My cousin had been there before, but it was my first time there. We sat outside. Although it was raining we stayed dry because the patio was covered. Our table was really a big glider. It moved back and forth whenever we moved. There were, plants and benches, and lots of decorations. Sort of like being at a playground I didn't want a big meal so I asked our server what she recommended. She said the hamburgers were delicious. It sounded good, so I got the hamburger which came with a side of French fries. The hamburger was very tasty and cooked medium, as ordered. The bun under the hamburger was wet with grease. I told our server and she brought me a new bun. The French fries were delicious. I usually don't order French fries and I'm glad I tried these. It was hard to stop eating them. My husband had the shrimp po' boy sandwich. It was fried shrimp on a hoagie bun. It came with French fries. It was a large sandwich and my husband enjoyed it. I took a bite and it tasted good. For drinks we had cold draft beers which went well with our sandwiches. My cousin had the conch chowder. He didn't like it . The soup was clear and watery and didn't look very appetizing. He also ordered fried shrimp which he said was okay. I tried one of his shrimp and I thought it tasted good. My friend had the red lobster bisque. He said it was awful. He loves seafood soups so if he didn't like it I know it wasn't good. It looked very dense and thick. He said it didn't have any lobster in it and very little flavor. For his entrée he had shrimp bang bang, which was fried shrimp over angel hair pasta. He said it was okay but I noticed that he only took a few bites and took the rest home. He said he didn't feel good after eating the lobster bisque. They had a separate menu with drink specials. The drinks looked interesting and the prices for drinks were reasonable. I saw that more people appeared to be drinking then eating. Monday through Friday they have different food and drink specials from 4 pm till closing, in the bar and high tops.

Alright,, Plus side- The Atmosphere is AWESOME! Great Vibe, great decorations, it really makes you feel like you're on vacation, even if you're just on a work lunch break. On that note, don't come here for lunch, the food took ForEver to get to the table.. And then once it did,, the burger that was requested to be rare, was well done, the wings had zero of the sauce we requested and the $13 plate of scallops, had four tiny ones. The scallops actually had very good flavor and were cooked perfectly.. the garlic mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had.. Their menu is huge, which is a plus, but the screwup of a simple burger makes me hesitant to get my hopes up about any of the other items. Service was very good, despite our meal not turning out as expected. My overall take on Muddy Waters is that it would be a killer place to have drinks and relax when you're not on any timeline.. However, it's close to my work & nowhere near my home, so a lunch time trip is their best shot at my business and I will not likely be back in that capacity.

Best raw oysters in town and delicious steamed clams. Everything was delicious. Huge menu, you're bound to find something you like. Saw Atkins diet specials too. Very accommodating menu and great staff. Decorated very Florida style. I feel like I'm Key West

Love the license plates up behind the bar... but that's about where my enthusiasm ended, nothing to write home about - but if you're staying near the Deercreek golf course - this is really close!

I really like the food. The atmosphere is very chill and laid back. The outdoor seating features rocking chair booths. Who doesn't love rocking back and forth when conversation runs out? The number one reason that I come here, however, is their Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary features a giant shrimp and it's delicious. You should probably go get one.

HILLSBORO BLVD - as a hangout type place with old CHINTZ (various nautical junk) and modern AQUARIUMS (wide-screen monitors) ...........it IS a nice place to meet to socialize.......... and i did witness on MY sunday late afternoon visit no one in a RUSH to leave and the abundance of retirees typically indicate there are "specials" - like $8 for a dozen oysters and $2 draft beer the FISH DIP ($10) was a very good starter and my half-pound peel-n-eat shrimp ($13) offered ten large cocktail sized warm shrimp in a seasoned broth which i shared with my daughter and her husband - we all agreed the shrimp were very good my daughter ordered the mussels ($13) which were also very good but the tomato sauce was more like tomato paste and the extra charge for angel hair ($3) would have been reasonable IF THE pasta was indeed angel hair - it wasn't - i IMprovized by dipping the mussels with shell into MY shrimp broth and slurping out the broth with mussel from the shell (since i already had a decent mess going with the finger-licking peel-n-eat shrimp) my daughters husband had the BURGER ($11) plus sides of various beers ($2 draft YUENGLING, $4 bottle corona, $6 SPATEN OPTIMATOR) and A rum mixed drink ($3 CAPT MORGAN) which were either on "special" or otherwise reasonably priced the oysters rockefeller six (for $6) was covered and baked spinach and parmigiana that over took the oyster part but did add to the seafood fiesta we were enjoying i also had a bowl of the clam chowder BUT since i don't see it on my bill i won't complain about it being more of a potato cube soup than had any clams plus i doused it with balsamic vinegar for added flavor Muddy Waters want's to emulate KEY WEST..........and maybe the old-timers are out of it anyway...........but you are in an ASPHALT parking lot strip mall miles from any ocean waters and cooling ocean breezes.........however, THE FINALE OF tiramisu ($6) was the REAL THING

Our local favorite spot. Food is very good, atmosphere is cute and quirky. Service is human. I have been in "the biz" most of my life so I understand human beings not being perfect. The service is never bad. It's not The Ritz. That's not what I'm looking for. Food is always good, comes out pretty fast and they are very accommodating. Yes there are a lot of "old people" but heck, I think I may be one. 60's hippies gotta retire someplace, right??

Ive only been here once but its the closet thing to a 'chinchorro' here in South Florida. This place has an outside sitting area, and huge bar area that is inviting. Its like my guy said...all thats missing is the beach next door lol bc even the music is a bit islandy or reggae sometimes. Everyone is friendly and the bartenders are too. The blue moon is slightly less than in brus room ($4.70) but more than in Duffys and Brickyard ($1-ish more). Still not a bad bet if you wanna try a new place or return to a cozy bar. I also saw they have kareoke on thursday so i'm excited like a dork about that. Just overheard someone being the birthday boy and to mark that they sound a ship horn...nice touch lol. I'd come back for sure !

I was looking for a good place to eat when in town on a business trip. They had good reviews on trip advisor. I am glad I decided to go. They have outdoor seating and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was great, prices were reasonable and the staff was very accommodating. Will definitely go back!!

Really dropping my review level here. Been coming here for years and the last few times there has been a 'struggle' over the price of the raw oysters. Even though we had a mailer saying .50 they kept saying .69. Fine, whatever. We now accept .69. What was a complete shocker today was that they charge .30 more (each) to get additional horseradish and cocktail sauce...and what they bring you is super small to begin with. Then, almost as a test, I asked for some BBQ sauce for the burger when the waitress delivered ketchup and napkins ahead of the burger. Sure enough . 30 more. Have we really gotten to the point that we are charging for condiments?? The food is just fine (nothing special) it was more of the outside atmosphere which was nice. But I'm really disappointed and turned off...will find somewhere else to go.

Great food, fun and unique atmosphere. The fish dip is pretty fishy but still good. The shrimp po' boy was fantastic and the key lime pie was near perfect

Service is abysmal. Been here tons of times, but treated like we're unwelcome this time. Took 15 minutes to get a beer. Manager scoffed at us and said inside was busy. Uhh.. No.. It's not busy.

  • Ashley O.

You can't beat the .50 oysters! The rest of the menu is ok. I would come during happy hour to try a little bit of everything. Really fun atmosphere! It's a tropical themed restaurant! It reminds me of being in key west! If you have guests in town, I would recommend bringing them here!

    (4)
  • Katherine M.

This place is all about the atmosphere. Coming in, its in a weird location, and you wouldn't expect the tree lined outdoor seating with parents considering its Ina strip mall. It's comfortable and very much the tourist idea of Florida, but in the weirdest location. Food is just OK. I would imagine sticking to seafood here may have been better. Fries are double fried, which some like, but not me. Their key lime pie has a pretzel crust that is delicious but the pie itself lacks in lime flavor. Service was amazing - everyone was very nice and attentive. Apparently they allow dogs too!

Very fresh oysters at .69 cents a piece all day every. They also have great drink specials and depending on the day have different food themes. We went on a Thursday and they had karaoke night. We ordered the fish tacos, ahi tuna, and soft shell crab sandwich. All were very good with no complaints. We also love the outdoor seating as it reminds us of key west with the rocking seats.

Been here at Muddy Waters the other day and I had a great time eating here. The place was very convienient, I cant find any bad things about it. The staff was good, they give all the efforts to the customers. Food was 4/5. Black angus burgers was good, I had angus burgers before but this one was much better. I love how they made it into a fine burger. Also tried their glutton burger became very delighted about it. 4 star from me.

Maria A's description of the location as a "cross between the flare-loving restaurant in Office Space and a Florida Keys restaurant" is dead on. This place at least on Thursday evenings caters very much to the senior citizen population. We were seated at their high top tables and waited for our server to take our drink menus. Once our party arrived, we ordered and got the Sunset Burger, the Portobello Beef Burger, the Buccaneer Basic and a Cheeseburger. We also ordered the 5 wings as an appetizer. Like the idea of the burger buns being branded with "Muddy Waters", I was unimpressed with the Portobello Beef Burger but heard good things about the others. The sandwich that I did enjoy was the Smoked BBQ pork with coleslaw and it was really good. Just about the time for the Heat game to get started, so did karaoke!! While it was entertaining, there was definitely a lack of peaceful co-existence between the karaoke lovers and the hyped up Miami Heat fans.

I've been here more than a dozen times and always had a great experience. The menu is large with a variety to choose from. The food is great and atmosphere is fun. Unique decor to create a sea / island theme and many TVs to watch. You have the option to dine inside or outside. The servers have always been pleasant and eager to provide good service. If you're looking for good food and a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy I highly recommend Muddy Waters!

A great happy hour spot always packed with friendly service. The raw bar is definately the highlight, but don't miss out on the prime rib or the jambalaya. Very kid friendly laid back environment.

We wanted oysters and they were .69. The place was cute and no matter what the reviews said...we had great service. Servers were friendly, polite and made us feel very much at home. If felt like Key West and we watched football, which made my honey happy! We will return and perhaps sit outside next time!

  • Carla M.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, yummy drinks - and the slowest service ever! Went with a few girlfriends and we ended up staying there for two hours simply because the service for everything (drinks, appetizers, entrees, boxes, check) took forever! It felt like we were waiting 30 min for each round. Go, but only if you have plenty of time to spare. Get the rum punch bucket - best way to pass the time!

  • Jonathan P.

This used to be my local lunch spot once or twice a week. The food is pretty decent and the staff is usually friendly. The only thing that bugs me is the smell of he place! The owner needs to spend a bit of cash updating and cleaning the place. The carpet smells like a locker room! No restaurants should use carpeting anymore! STINKY!

    (3)
  • Gina P.

The atmosphere is what is number one in this place. Me and a friend came for a quick bite and I was so surprised at the outdoor seating. It's like you've gone in a transporter and now are on Duvall street. Totally cool and impossible to tell from the street how it's decked out. The food was nothing amazing. I had the jerk pork sandwich which was very spicy. It was good enough but nothing to write home about. They have a cheap oyster special which I am excited to try next visit.

    (3)
  • Frank B.

Went for an expected lunch! We had steamed clams, conch fritters (very tasty) and a "blacken" chicken sandwich on a "toasted" bun with melted Swiss cheese and their "mango salsa" dressing (yummy) on the side. For my side I selected a sweet potato that was cooked to perfection (mushy). The establishment's atmosphere was "nautical" with that "Key West" motifs surrounding a huge sport bar. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. Cheers!

  • Aubrie J.

Been here a few times. The food is usually decent. Responsibly priced. They have an all you can eat crab legs for $24 on the weekends. The best thing about the place is their fun atmosphere. The rocker tables outside give it a unique and relaxing feature. The drinks tonight were very watered down and our banana cream pie consisted of some very black bananas. Not the best experience I've had there. The wait staff is always nice and personable. I will probably go back there however expectations are never very high.

    (3)
  • Santi A.

Weird bar full of old weird people. Seriously it's like everyone there is a regular. Decoration is fun I guess, very key west wannabe. But nothing really memorable about the food or drinks.

  • Bonnie S.

I have come here for over 10 years. They have absolutely the best corned beef Reuben in South FL I am rating this on tropical ambience and expectation for this type of restaurant, not 5 star service in other categories with cuisine and chef. The staff is friendly and a lot of the elderly customers from across the street are aggravating and always want something for nothing so read reviews with that in mind. This place has only improved with age, expanded and has a very lively bar crowd. The al fresco tables are nice but somebody can then seat in your area with a cigar. I prefer the inside. Parrotheads come on Tuesday, and the atmosphere is always Key West/Margaritaville every day. Go and enjoy!

Showed up with my husband, brother in law, and niece for dinner. We sat outside so she could see the parrot and enjoy the decor (their outdoor seating really is something else). We are seated and given menus. 20 minutes later, after two servers, a busboy, and the hostess walked by...we left. No one said hello to us, never mind offering us beverages or trying to get our orders. Sorry muddy waters, you are completely awful as far as your customer service goes. Also, how do you not have a kids menu?!

From the parking lot view of the restaurant and a first-timer, I would think the restaurant put a lot of money into the decorations because it is really well decorated inside and outside of the place. I must say, as an artist, my favorite decoration of the restaurant is walking through the hallways to get to the washrooms. It is dim and the walls are painted with accents of glow-in-the dark spots. My boyfriend, friend, and I came here during late afternoon lunch hours for to try their desserts which were great! Not phenomenally spectacular but it was also not super packed with sugar that would kill my teeth. We had the Key lime coconut and carrot cake. I'm a fan of carrot cake so my opinion will be biased and I enjoyed it because it was less sugary than all the other carrot cakes I used to try and this one was perfect. For drinks I had a 48 oz. Partyrita which of course I shared... I'm a lightweight and I was already feeling buzzed after 8 oz. Guess who helped me drink it all? I didn't have a meal here so I really do not know. My friend ordered a salad which he really enjoyed and felt it was really worth it but that's all I can really say about their food. This is a type of restaurant that will attract tourists and you should give it a try.

This place is really cute, the decor. But my 1st experience was calling to check if there was any wait at 6:30, and some dude told us there was none. I check ahead now everywhere we go, because my dad has a rare dementia and gets very impulsive and antsy if we have to wait too long and just sit, which is bad. So we get there and the girl in front said there was a 25 min wait. facepalm. Then she said she wished she knew the guys name who told us none so she could yell at him, I agreed. Our waitress Stephanie was so nice and excellent, as my mom kept saying. My dad will, the second a waiter says hi to us say COKE COKE Get me coke! and cut them off... in normal people= rudeness, but in my dad, his impulse control center in his brain is damaged so not his fault. It seemed like she understood, and was patient and kind, even in crowded conditions like it is there! The food is... alright lol. I wish they had a more simplified menu, it's too messy, but then again I watch a lot of Restaurant rescue and stuff where they always suggest that :)

DONT DO IT! If u want to spend your money there are better places to go. Service is not good, food but no utensils, no refills on drinks and my corned beef sandwich was missing the corned beef which was very similar to the fish sandwich.

  • Lisa R.

We were there for 2 hours. The service was very poor. My husbands burger was cold and undercooked. My sons sandwich was horrible very fatty ( prime rib sandwich). When talking to 2 managers they were both rude and very argumentative. We will never go back. We were also told that one of the reasons the food took over an hr to get to us is that the kitchen closed so they could catch up the orders.

I think this place gets a bad wrap, but you really should enjoy it for what it is. Located in an area where there's not too much around, there's some light in the dark 1. Huge menu, cheap oysters. Don't get the Fish Reuben..I shoulda known better. They have everything so they don't specialize in anything...so nothing is amazingly amazing. They do sell a fish dip you can take home that is different from the dip served as an app. Really delicious. Local made. 2. So. Many. Senior. Citizens. It's like their thing. It is near Century Village so I'll leave it at that. Be prepared. 3. Pretty laid back staff. Like too laid back almost. One of their punky manager dudes was talking about my mother as she left and I came, without knowing I was her daughter. He was boozing it up at the bar, with his MW shirt on. Just not my style, ya know? 4. Sunday is all day happy hour. They've got a bangin bloody. Not gna lie. They use zing zang which is by far the best Bloody Mary mix ever.

I should've posted this the other night but I had some of the worst conch chowder I have ever had which I find very unusual for this place. I will chalk it up as a one time occurrence. I had a few pieces of potato in the chowder and that was about it. The kitchen should've had the smarts to 86 it.

Recommended by friends, our visit last night (Saturday January 17th) was a traIn wreck. We sent for quite sometime prior to our order being taken, once order was taken it seem like an unusually long period of time before even our salads came out. we asked the waitress what was going on and she explained that it was quite busy and they closed the kitchen to orders until the kitchen could catch up. after that the manager came over and basically picked a verbal fight with one of the people in my party. we were told our meals were being expedited it would be out shortly. After well over an hour from the time we ordered our meals finally came out, not all together and at the same time but in groups of three over a period of About 5 to 10 minutes. Two meals went back and replacement was refused one of which was cold and undercooked. If I have anything good to say about the place, it's purely that they have happy hour on Saturday night and reasonably priced beer. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Worst hostesses ever.... They were so unorganized it was a joke. We arrive at 8pm on a Friday night, the restaurant is 40% full. The hostess tells us she can't seat us. Then she says if we want to sit down we can but we won't be able to order from a server for at least 30 min. So stupid. She then says they sold out of 12 lobsters tonight... is that a sign of how busy you are? Because 12 lobsters are nothing! Then, as we are about to sit down she says "just got word we can't seat you." Less than a minute later a hostess comes up and seats us. None of it made sense. Finally, on our way to the table the hostess tells us "good luck getting a booth table." It was all so stupid. As we were walking to our seat, we were in shock at how empty the place was. How can they say they were busy? Also, we sat at a booth... and about 5 other booths were open too, along with every single table besides booths being empty. Our server was great. She was efficient, friendly and didn't make us feel unwanted like the hostess did. $0.50 raw oysters are a great deal. We gobbled those down. $15 Friday Fish Fry was also a great deal, you get 4 massive pieces of fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw and fries. It was enough for 2 meals. They should have at least had a manager come over and apologize for the ridiculous night. Even funnier, about 20 minutes into our evening, the restaurant went from 40% full to %10 full. It seemed like a joke the whole time.

We've been coming here for years. The ambience for a strip mall is awesome! Swings and most? Yes please! The menu is quite varied overall and I generally find the prices ok. The portions are fair and never feel like I'm getting ripped off. The service can be a bit slow some days as mentioned by others and that's why I took a star off but overall a really good experience.

Unable to sit outside on a very crowded Friday night but was convinced by the hostess to take a booth inside. Didn't realize there is a section away from the "senior wild" bar and sports tv area. Really decorated nicely for Halloween. To give a tranquil feel the flat screens were showing swimming tropical fish. We both tried a Halloween themed drink. My pumpkin martini was a bit sweet but interesting. Grilled salmon and seared ahi tuna salads were solid. Friendly service.

Really a weird place other peoples reviews are on point. Take it for what it is! I felt like when I walked inside I was on a pirate ship in the middle of keye west ! Fortunately I went and I found they have .50 oysters and they were pretty good so that was awesome. I also ordered the fish dip it wasn't the best I ever had but it was good. My friend had the crab legs they were very dry!! And we had a cucumber martini that we sent back. Probably wouldn't go back again just because it wasn't really my scene.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and have always loved it. I lived in Broward County for many years but moved to Central Florida 4 years ago, and I make it a point to stop in when I travel this way. The variety of menu selections is unmatched. The seafood (especially the fish tacos), the clam chowder, and burgers are my favorites. On our latest visit, I had the chowder, Chicken Ceasar wrap, and Key Lime Pie -- all were great. The staff was attentive and stopped by frequently. Prices are reasonable. The outdoor seating on gliding tables/benches is pretty cool. The decor is Key West -- makes you feel a little like you are having dinner on vacation. Four years ago, ,my wife and I had our wedding reception here and it was great. Also, I know from experience that if anything is not right, the management will make an honest effort to take care of it.

It's a keys themed bar and restaurant - food is legit. Conch fritters excellent, good bar, huge menu. Something for everyone.

We met friends there on Saturday night. If you like oysters, you can't beat this place, and that's all I can say, you won't find them cheaper or better. The muscles were not good, and the clams over cooked and chewy. The worst part, we ordered oyster one dozen at a time because of limited room at the table. When a extra order arrived, we said, "no worries, we'll pay for them and eat them" moments later, the manager came over, dressed down the server (in front of us) picked up the oyster from the table and said, these are for someone else, you'll have to order more. Gross, I will never eat there again. If your looking for a nice senior local crowd, you can find it here.

Low quality food and watered down drinks. I was hoping it would be better based on the location, but I was disappointed. Plenty of better places in the area that are more worthy of your dollars.

The service at this place is pathetic. Do not use a credit card especially if you want the waitress to split the bill. Apparently, dividing a check was above her pay grade. Seriously, we ate there on a Tuesday night. After having been gone with our credit cards for 10 minutes, the waitress returned with multiple slips non of which matched ours. Half an hour later the manager still could not figure out how to void the erroneous charges. Our credit card statement did not reflect the correct transactions until Sunday. Not once did we receive any apology from either the manager or the waitress. The food, not memorable, but about what I expected. I doubt we will be back.

I have had good seafood here and love the quaint pirate atmosphere of being in Old Key West. I have felt disappointed a couple of Sunday evenings when trying to go there for a bite to eat. First Sunday night I tried that I was told the kitchen was closed after I spent several minutes trying to get someone to assist with outdoor table seating. The outdoor Swing Seats are really cute and quaint (second time I have used this word in this review, I know). I went again last night which was a Sunday night. I was not greeted in the outdoor area where I prefer to sit so when I approached a server who was sweeping the floor and asked whether I could sit at a certain (swing) table she asked, "what do you want?" I said "something to eat." She said "if the kitchen is not closed." She went to ask the kitchen if it was closed or open and came back saying it was open. I ordered their delicious Oysters Rockefeller (which I have had several times there and which I highly recommend) and told her I brought my Muddy Waters loyalty card and a coupon I wanted to use. Soon after she looked at my coupon and told me "this EXPIRED (past tense) on October 19" and she also added "if you use a coupon you can't use a Muddy's Loyalty card to earn points, they're real strict on that." I advised her that today is Oct. 19. I added that "it sounds like you don't want me to use my coupon (the main reason I went that night?. The food I ordered, including a Crispy Onion Topped Mahi Mahi (fish, nice and juicy ... cooked to perfection and fresh tasting) over a nice bed of rice garnished with Artichokes was delicious & lovely BUT I left with the feeling that I had to jump through too many hurdles to sit down, place my order, and be waited on on a Sunday night. And I do wish Muddy's management would reconsider its strict "rule" against allowing Muddy's "members" to use their Muddy's loyalty card on every visit even if the patron brings a direct-marketed email coupon or is there for happy hour. I seem to recall being there about about 7 or 8 months ago with a female Senior Citizen friend of mine and some of her friends visiting from New York when a good server there told her she could "not use" her Muddy's card in connection with happy hour. I think my friend was a little embarrassed by that. The only way I found out that a Muddy's card is available was through said friend. She encouraged me to sign up for a Muddy's card and I am still waiting to see if it will provide real value when going to this restaurant and bar. In sum, give it a try. You might like it. I first heard about it from a promotion it did in connection with the annual Renaissance Festival held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, Florida!

I just went to this place this afternoon to check it out after reading pretty mixed reviews here from my fellow Yelper's. I heard it was cheesy and full of weird stuff so this sounded like my kind of place! It was definitely fun. It felt like a made-for-TV-version of Key West. There was stuff all over the walls, stars painted on the walls, skulls, pirate stuff in the bar, a bunch of TV's, and a huge menu. The drink menu was impressive as it appeared there were cool island-type drinks that they will make you to really put the feel on. If you are a Buffett phan or like the Margaritaville-esque type environments, this is the place for you. I have to admit, the Yuengling beer on tap was mighty stale but as the true pirate that I am, I finished it. My only "issue", if you will, was the ANNOYING people at the end of the bar watching the Rangers hockey game. Granted, I despise hockey and also don't understand why people in Florida watch it, maybe it's PTSD from growing up in that climate (Minnesota), but these people were LOUD and OBNOXIOUS. You know the types that think everyone in the bar wants to hear them and that their audience thinks they are funny? Yeah, that was these people. For instance, the bartender poured them all shots of "Kamikaze", and the one lady yells "Kama kama kama kama Kamikaaazzeee!" You know, like the Karma Chameleon song....WOW. Enough said! But, the restaurant/bar is awesome and I will definitely go back.

Ate here this weekend had a late lunch. Sat outside in one of their "glider" booths - large booths that hold 6 adults comfortably. They are in a covered area with lots of fans blowing. Lots of island decor around. There is a full bar here - huge selection of beers on tap and in the bottle as well. The menu here is tremendous, mainly seafood and fish but also burger choices, prime rib sandwiches, chicken and pastas. We started with clams and oysters on the half shell. The clams were very small (little necks). They were very good but a little small for my taste. The oysters were ice cold and sweet. I went with the all you can eat snow crab legs which is a special all day Saturday and Sunday. They were fresh, plentiful. Came with corn on the cob. My co-diners had a burger (said it was good), fried calamari (decent), crabcake sandwich (good), and the kids had pasta and chicken nuggets. Fries here were good (came with the nuggets). All in all, a decent seafood/bar hang out. Nothing fancy but great for a hang out afternoon or evening.

I had a great time here, the drinks were great and the food was fantastic. I love how they have raw oysters which is lacking in a lot of places claiming to be seafood restaurants. The biggest surprise is their prime rib sandwich because it's ginormous. All in all I'd recommend this place.

No longer have 50 cent oysters or the unlimited snow crab/fried shrimp deal. Ordered the scallop app and it was small compared to last time. Maybe new management, but definitely won't make the drive anymore.

The place we wanted to go eat was closed and boy was that a blessing. We just randomly picked a place and ended up having the best meal of our week visiting the area! I came here with a buddy after a bike ride at Quiet Waters. I never was there prior and once we pulled up (neither of us are from the area) I was a little skeptical because it looks pretty creepy from the road. However, upon walking up to the exterior patio area I thought it was really nice looking. I thought it was a bit odd that they were able to take over the entire side walk with what has to be a permanent installation of their stuff in a strip mall. Upon entering, there were two bars. One filled with people and the other which looked out of the bar scene from The Shining. Again, odd but who cares. I got the impression that the place is very very big with the locals. It seemed that everyone in there new each other and everyone walking in...the same. Being we were not from here, we were not made to feel like rejects. I had a cheesesteak which is pretty much my bar "test food". It was really really good! I wont bore you with the texture of the mushrooms and the tenderness of the meat. Just, it was really good. The drinks were large, the staff was attentive and the food was good. Dont drive by after judging the book by its cover. It was a good place. I'll be back.

One of my favorite places to NOT dress up and get cheap food and drinks. The food here for the price is great. If you sit at the bar at happy hour, you can get .25 cent oysters, they are .50 cents at tables. Drinks are super cheap regardless of whether it's happy hour or not. They are some REALLY old people here. I am assuming there is a retirement home near. They look fancy though, whatever. The bartenders are sweet and patient, I was surprised by how patient they are with the crowd. Very laid back and fun atmosphere. Be careful though, you could easily crawl out of this place. They pour strong drinks and if you are a young girl, the older gentlemen often buy you drinks. Twice I have even had my meals paid for and I didn't even have to endure the pain and suffering of pretending to listen to another story about what it was like growing up in New York or gold digging ex wives. They pretty much left me alone, yes! My friend did get sick one night off the clams. They were out of oysters, our usual, on this particular day. I would steer clear if possible. They even smelled weird, we should have taken that as a hint. Their salads are great because they add peas to them, which I love, and they have a good selection of dressings. Fish sandwich is also great! Overall good food and service here. You do not have to feel obligated to dress to impress because most of the crowd is above 80 and probably cannot see you anyway.

Almost 3 stars. Wanna know the biggest difference between Muddy Watesr and Key West? Key West doesn't run out of lobster. The menu is unique and inventive, sadly this isn't a good thing. It means they offer Mexican (Yucatan) paella instead of traditional (Cuban) and Key West Shrimp (aka fried shrimp) with unique sides like caribbean rice and mango salsa which is hardly what I want with good seafood. So they didn't have any lobster at all (the main reason I wanted to try the place) and their other seafood combinations didn't sound terribly appealing so I was forced to try the Prime Rib. Generally the best seafood isn't found at a steakhouse and the best meats generally aren't found at a seafood restaurant and we proved that tonight. The prime rib was not quite as good as say Outback but not quite as bad as say Sizzler. It was more expensive than both and quite a disappointment. The baked potato was of the variety typically served with what Fridays claims is a "steak" and the sauteed vegetables were on par with what Fridays would park next to what they claim is a "steak." I suspect if Fridays ever added Prime Rib to the menu it would be identical. My wife went with a Yellow snapper special that wasn't bad. Nothing great, slightly subpar for anything that believes itself to be a seafood restaurant, especially of the Key West tradition. But it wasn't horrible or anything. We both got salads that I'm positive were shuttled in from the local Fridays. Sensing a trend here. But we also got clam chowder and lobster bisque and if Fridays offered these I'm certain even they could do a better job. They were slightly better than campbells canned variety. Quite likely they did come from a can of some brand. About this time a good slice of key lime pie might have saved things. Sadly the menu is unique and inventive so they had Pretzel Crusted Tequila Key Lime Pie so we opted for the check instead. Bottom line if you are looking for good seafood at a good price...keep looking because this isn't it. If you want to get drunk off your ass and eat raw clams and oysters that aren't quite as good as Southport Raw Bar and you don't understand the difference this might be the place for you. If you want to dine while listening to bad live (not to mention loud) entertainment this might be the place for you. If you think ridiculous flavor combinations like Nacho Pasta is clever this might be the place for you. If you can look at the word Appeteezers on a menu and not laugh out loud this might be the place for you. If you think Fridays should have an expanded seafood selection, or better yet open up a Friday's Seafood House then this is definitely the place for you.

A cross between the flare-loving restaurant from the movie Office Space and some tacky Florida keys eatery. Now, simply add a twist of tacky and you're beginning to get the idea. I was in the neighborhood running errands with a friend and we found this place on Yelp. I read the reviews and decided to give it try. Proving the old saying, you can't win them all. The food was unimpressive in taste, presentation, and creativity. Service is mediocre at best. Even the menu was poorly designed. The tough part is that one can imagine that the owners are trying and they need some fresh ideas and maybe an intervention.

I loved the food and the atmosphere, though I wished I could sit outside without the cigarette smoke. I find outside to be more interesting, but the smoking a no-no. My kid loves the swing cars and the servers are very friendly. I usually go on Sunday for a late lunch with friends and family.

Restaurant menu stated they had lobsters ranging for 2-8lbs. I ordered a 2lb lobster and when I received the bill I was charged for a 2-3/4lb lobster. I called over the server who said "that was the smallest we had tonight". I further inquired as to why I was not notified about this prior to ordering and she said "if you aren't happy I can get the manager." The manager came over and I explained the situation to which she gave the same initial reply as the server. She also told me that if all they had were 5lb lobsters they could have served me that and charged for me that. When I began to tell her how ridiculous it was to charge a client who orders a 2lb lobster (which is a menu item) for a 5lb lobster she stormed off. This place is a total scam.

My wife and I went to MW last night. The way the wait to get in was handled was weird - no idea of what was going on - then when we got a table we sort of wished we hadn't. We just figured if people would put up with the place the food would have to be good. Turned out - not so. The waitress was plenty nice - but clearly overworked. No room to navigate. We had to get up and get our own silverware after the food came - we asked for some mayo but never got it. My burger was raw (and I usually like rare/medium rare - but cold purple in the middle... neighbors were struggling though their meals as well - not a great dining experience. The waitress lost my credit card in the chaos - but found it on the floor nearby. We won't be going back.

I would say Muddy Waters would get 3 1/2 stars. I ordered the jerk pork not realizing it was a sandwich. It was okay. The flavor wasn't all that great. However, the hush puppies were awesome! (Hence the extra 1 1/2 stars). We had a coupon so, we thought we'd give it another try. The waitress this time around was pretty cool and efficient, but she didn't make up for the uncleanliness of the restaurant. (I suggest eating outside if you want to eat in a cleaner environment). Now, let's talk about the menu. Two words: TOO ELABORATE! If you want to turn your tables and satisfy your customers at the same time, I suggest not putting a million and one items to choose from on the menu! Needless, to say we probably won't be returning again. Even though we live around the corner.

First time going there, called from my car to order some take out. That went good, staff is nice. Got my bill: 1) They charged me .50 extra per item as a to go charge 2) The girl asked me if I wanted honey mustard, grilled mushrooms, cheese and grilled onions on a prime rib sandwich which I accepted. Then the charged me .50 extra per item. Complained to bartender, she gave me 2 free drink cards. Food was better than average, but I was charged almost $5 extra in charges and extras without warning. Probably won't eat there again. I am a father of 2 young children, my wife and I dont get out much and will never use the free drink cards...

Cool place with an eclectic atmosphere- and clientele. They have 50 cent oysters as a special. The bartenders are pretty, too. Would rate it higher, but some of their drink pricing is uneven. Really reasonable for some things, but pretty high for others.

Food is always decent. $8 32oz run buckets. Found part of a metal scrubby in my food last time. Waiter said they would tell the cook. No discount for having metal in my food. Waiter was a jerk. I think if we had a different waiter, the tainted food would have been free.

Pretty solid south Florida bar/seafood fare. It's gotta a swanky dirty pirate/boat feel to it. The folks that come here are across the board and it makes for an entertaining place. They have some HD LCD's in the bar area for decent sports watching, and then they have some ancient CRT 27" tv's that make you remember what horrible TV watching we came from. Good drinks and they make some really ridiculous noggin sized boat drinks.

Okay so imagine yourself by yourself down in FL. What do you see? Probably a bunch of old people eating dinner around 4? Well we ventured in around 7, open the door to a dance floor full of 65+ (seniors) year olds dancing to a Barry Manilow impersonator. And if that wasn't enough, it was a tag team! Elvis was on site! While it was very overwhelming, we managed to venture to the opposite side of the bar and have a safe dinner far from the crazy seniors. The food was mediocre. I have now been to muddy waters about 4 times. I got the Mahi Tacos the first 2, and the final one i ventured off and got some Coconut Shrimp. I was not impressed with any of the food i had there. I recommend this place as a bar. The Tacos make a great pair when coupled with a nice tall 22 oz beer!! I also managed to make it out for Halloween. Yet again a very memorable experience. The bartenders consisted of a firewoman, and a police officer and on top of that they had models walking around handing out free shots! I was quite overwhelmed. But it really was a good night. Make a trip out to Muddy Waters for happy hour and you will be satisfied!

This place is just FABULOUS! Great food, great prices, great ambiance! Outdoor seating is smoke friendly and they have cooling fans for usual humid late afternoons. I find this place just boring. I have been there a few times for lunch with coworkers. The food is unremarkable. I can't figure out exactly what the theme is. There is some outside seating which could be a good place to hang out for a while. This is basically a bar that happens to sell food. Kind of an Irish, Caribbean Pirate, Beach, Pub, Sports Bar... stuff hanging everywhere, oh I don't know what it is! I think I'm getting a headache.

I hate to say it but the service there was AWFUL! It took more than 10 minutes to get a drink, the waitress never served any of the food we ordered. Yes the food and drinks were of standard, the server PATTI needs to step up her game, or find another means of work! I became so frustrated with it all I had to leave and have my partner pay the bill. If PATTI is your server, be prepared to wait for your meal.

Went there to celebrate two friends birthdays, took them out to dinner with the wife. Haven't been there in over 5 years, the birthday girls wanted to go there. Website and reviews depict the place as a tropical Jimmy Buffet style place, we found it startlingly different. 70's music (dance/disco music playing), rustic inside dining area (normal), but at dinner time up on all the big screen TV's I'm seeing a 60+ year old guy getting prepped for heart surgery! Not baseball, not World Cup, but very graphic heart surgery! Just what I want to see during dinner (I CAN'T make this sh*t up, it happened). Waitresses show up, one with "TRAINEE" written on her name badge. Nice; this is going to be memorable. Her name was Erin. I politely asked to have the channel changed as I and our guests were not into watching a live surgical procedure during our dinner. They changed our TV's locally to a baseball game, but I'll be damned if the bar TV didn't have the live surgery still on it. We waded through the menu and ordered fish dip and drinks to start. A Patron margarita ended up being delivered as a margarita with a Patron on the rocks next to it, not in it, and it reflected on the bill the same way, billed for two drinks. Conch chowder was sent back as it was watery onion soup-like. Entrees were grilled grouper sandwich, jambalaya, grilled grouper tacos, and small order of wings. Grilled grouper sandwich came out with two inches of bread, maybe 1/4 inch fish fillet. Grouper tacos seemed light on the fish part. Jambalaya ROCKED! Our wing order was lost by either the kitchen or waitresses, but never made it to the table, and 3/4 way through the food on the table we cancelled it. The girls got a piece of cake complimentary for their birthday. We tipped out 20%, and left with the feeling we took one for the team. This place could be better if the ambiance matched the advertising, they got rid of surgical techniques as entertainment, the fish portions would be a little larger, and somebody found a conch chowder recipe on the internet because what they served was nothing like any conch chowder I've had in 35 years in Florida. Beers and drinks were good, pricing reasonable, the birthday girls were ok with dinner, but I couldn't recommend this place to a friend. There's better to be found locally for the same price.

Have been a local since opening, ups and downs, however have always come back. Last 2 times unfortunate, I will never go back . I am in the restaurant business/people business and have been not only disappointed but insulted...this establishment which breeds and feeds a full bar enviroment, informed my 9 yr. old and his 12 yr. old friend that a situation was my alcoholic stance. Wrong, I had just arrived from work and had ordered 1 glass of wine and yes I did drink it ; following dinner,a wrong follow thru for carry out caused this situation. I do not accept this verbal explanation delivered to my child. Am so disgusted, my loyalty is the only retribution I can counter back with...to their credit, I was not charged for the carry out screw up. My anger is with the commentary, allowed to the children, not myself. If you are able to judge me, correctly,do so and not my company.
